I really like my one hour runs. On Friday I did the whole Foods course and back to home through Duke campus. At 59:45 I was at the traffic light.

This was the first time I ran through a hurricane. Or well, tropical storm rather. It was drizzling and later raining, but not extremely windy.

Sunday it was well in the 90s and I decided to do my long run at 1.30 pm. Predictably that didn't quite work and I gave up after an hour, and walked home.

Sunday night I ran for 2 hours and 24 minutes. After that I walked home, I had hoped to do out and back but I didn't make that. Gerben and Ettie were at home with us when I returned, that was nice.

If we say 11.5 miles than that's 12.5 minutes a mile. Not bad for such a long run!

Wednesday evening Sasha and I ran the extended golf course track in 41:42.

Last Friday I ran in the morning. I got up at 6.00 am and ran to Whole Foods and then Campus Drive, about 1 hour. The same day Sasha and I ran together, the extended loop around the Golf Course -- 44.41.

We did the same a few days later, on Tuesday, around 45 minutes. Now we just came back from my traditional course, 40.20 minutes.

It's been a while since I recorded a training run. It's not that I haven't been running, but I haven't been as diligent in keeping track. Sasha and I have done a lot of training runs together, especially on Monday's and Wednesdays. Come to think of it, Friday's too. We're hooked!

It took 33 minutes to get to the street light, and once I was there I almost fainted, literally. I think I pushed it a little bit too hard in the heat (it's 85 degrees). I walked home and felt fine so it may have just a temporary thing.

Tonight I went for a short but fast run. I wanted to do the NCRC May trail run in Umstead, but I missed the exit and I was late so I wouldn't have made it if I had turned around.

The fast run was wonderful! It was the track around the golf course, and I did it in 25:41. The track is 2.9 miles, or 4.7 kilometers. 8.8 minutes/mile.

So I wanted to practice running in hot weather, and on a hilly track so I'm well prepared for the race in Hickory, NC in 4 weeks. Well, today I had excellent practice and it was very tough. I ran 14.3 miles, with an average speed of 13.3 minutes/mile, well below my usually speed. The track was very hilly and the heat made it hard.

I was originally planning to run 12.5 miles but I took a wrong turn so I ran the airport spurt of the track which added another 2.73 miles.

Yesterday evening I went for a long run and it felt great. I ran 5.5 miles in 65 minuten; I had to take a walk brake close to the end since my stomach got upset but it was a great run. 11.8 minutes/mile

My new shoes are working nicely. I went for a walk with them twice earlier this week. I could feel my left knee a little bit, the same as what I felt when I bought the previous shoes, but it quickly disappeared.

One of my training rules is that I always take at least a day off between two runs, to prevent injuries. I sort of broke that rule now but yesterday's run was slow and relaxed, with lots of walk breaks.

A good time, I thought, 37:39. My lower right hurt, around the hip bone, perhaps I started too quickly.

The run was nice. However, I started at 7.30 pm and I was pretty hungry, so I didn't feel like exploring a new, slightly longer route.
