A very slow run tonight, purposely. Still muscle pain from Saturday! Tonight's run felt good, but still tired afterward even though it was short.

It's time for new shoes.

This must have been the longest run I've ever done. Not in miles, I once did 14 miles, but definitely in time: 2 hours and 47 minutes. I ran 13 miles in preparation for my first half marathon of this season in two weeks.

It was pouring with rain so my feet were wet and heavy throughout the run. The course was twice golf course and twice Whole Foods, and the golf course trail was covered with water on many places so I had to run through mud and water a number of times.

Still, it felt pretty good and I am happy I did this run. For the first time ever I did an ice bath after the run. Scientific evidence that it helps you recover is scarce, but it did feel good (remember, my legs were very cold to begin with). At night I took two Advils, and that helped me greatly. Normally after a long run like this I sleep pretty bad; feverish. I slept great last night.

Tonight (a Tuesday) I ran for roughly 90 minutes. To Whole Foods, twice the track and back. Felt great.

I tried the same last Sunday (and was hoping to do a golf course also), but had to quit after 60 minutes and walk home. It was too warm! A nice problem to have. Around 80 degrees.

Funny -- a couple of days before that I ran in the snow.

Today I ran twice at Whole Foods, once the golf course. 2 hours and 27 seconds. 11.2 minutes/mile. That was faster than last week's 9 mile run; I think because it was colder today. I felt great, and I realized after doing the 2nd Whole Foods track that I was in good shape. Today it was around 50 degrees, it was in the low 70s last week.

I ran 8.79 miles today; Whole Foods and the golf course. 1:42:15, so 11.6 minutes/mile.

The weather was gorgeous for February with 72 degrees and nice sun. The first time this year that I brought water bottles.

I can feel that I'm pushing myself; it wasn't that the last mile was particularly hard, like before, but I felt that I couldn't run much longer than this. So, it's good that I'm building up slowly towards the half marathon distance. I love running in this weather.

On Tuesday and today, Thursday, I ran the 4.5 mile track around Lake Johnson. It's such a great run!

Today was terribly cold, around 32 degrees and I felt cold all day -- until I went out the door and started running. I tried to break the ices of a small stream that I jumped over, by throwing rocks, but I couldn't -- it was pretty thick there (very shallow water). When I was a kid I used to like doing that.
